Today, I, Deanna Kimberly Burrell AKA Single Girl Summer, am officially the 6th member of the Six Brown Chicks. These women are some of Chicago’s smartest and hottest commodities. They are well-spoken intellects, writers, creators, and deep-thinkers. They are all so SGS and I’m honored and over-the-moon excited to be accepted into their sisterhood. I began my journey to being an author just three short years ago. It’s been a fantastic and wonderful adventure. Since the release of Single Girl Summer, I truly feel blessed every single day.
Yesterday, I told one of my best friends my latest SGS good news. She was so happy for me and commented that it seems like every day something good is happening to me. From the outside, my successes may appear effortless, but trust this journey hasn’t been easy. It gestated from a painful divorce and has been seasoned with determination, sacrifice, and lots of hard work. But it’s clear, this is my season. I have planted and toiled long in the fields. I have watered my dreams with encouragement and prayer. Now, I joyfully and graciously reap the harvest. I thank everyone who has supported me. I say to you, as Jesus said to us all, that you too can do all these things and more. Be inspired. Be encouraged. Be productive.
